RACE:
Registration-8:15
Race-9:00-9:30 “Race Through The Flags” is a 5K race run for charity. Anyone can enter but the military is expected to challenge one another this year. The race is run through 500 flags along Pitt Street, east side of the Mercer County Court House.
RECRUITING:
Set Up-8:00
Tear Down12:00 Military Branches and Refreshment Vendors will set up on North Diamond Street at the Mercer County Court House. The Army intends to set up young people’s games such as rock climbing wall at east end.
PROGRAM:
Set Up-9:00
Program-9:30-10:15 American Belles from New York City performing a USO-Style. Live Performance featuring the Viet Nam Era at the Band Stand, Mercer County Court House Lawn.
RECEPTION:
9:30-10:30 Veterans will sit, drink, eat, visit on South Diamond Street at the south side of the Mercer County Court House. Veterans may sign up for free prize drawings during the hour.
INDUCTION:
10:30-10:45 Col. Gary Solander, USA Retired, will give the induction oath at the Band Stand to all New Recruits present.
PARADE:
11:00-12:00 Line up will begin at 10:30 with parade traveling down Pitt Street past the Court House one half mile to Citizens Cemetery. Features this year include the American Belles, a riderless horse, Vision Quest, Five Bands, Military (including 2 ships) followed by Community.
SALUTE:
12:00-1:00 Memorial Salute to the Dead features recognition of 4 Honorees, several former Prisoners of War. Musical groups include a Civil War Era band or singers, the Penn-Ohio Singers and the Balmoral Highlanders. The Service to the Fallen includes 21 cannon salute.
